Cargill to build crop input facility in Peace River, Alberta

Cargill Limited has purchased 40 acres of land approximately 20km from Fahler, Alberta, with plans to soon begin building a new facility that is targeted to supply farmers with crop inputs by the spring of 2011.

The new facility will enable Cargill to more efficiently meet the needs of its grower customers in the Peace River region.

"Our customers in the area are currently being serviced out of Cargill's neighbouring Rycroft facility. With this new commitment by Cargill, our local team is energised to know that we will be able to offer growers the customer service and relationship much closer to home, in the Eastern Peace River region," said Mike Witkowicz, Cargill AgHorizons farm service group manager.

Cargill has recently expanded its grain handling capabilities with the Carseland, Alberta acquisition and its recent crop input facility purchase from Tri-Way Fertilizer in Balcarres, Saskatchewan.
