Ukraine's Bershad poultry plant cuts '09 output slightly

In 2009, the Bershad poultry plant (Floryne, Bershad district, Vinnytsia region) reduced production by 5.9% or 631 tonnes against 2008 to 10,121 tonnes.

In particular, the enterprise reduced meat production by 5.4% or 567 tonnes in 2009, compared with 2008, to 9,952 tonnes, meat half-finished products by 5.05% or 5 tonnes to 94 tonnes, canned goods by 68.54% or 61 tonnes to 28 tonnes, sausages production increased by 4.44% or 2 tonnes to 47 tonnes.

According to the representative, the production decline was caused by an increase of forages prime cost and a price rise of the plant's produce.

In earlier reports, Bershad poultry plant finished 2008 with a net profit of UAH13.732 million and boosted production in comparable prices by 21.64% or UAH16.762 million to UAH94.22 million, compared with 2007.
