Russia may ban chilled meat imports from US, Canada
Due to concerns over ractopamine use in livestock, Russia has warned that imports of chilled meat from the US and Canada may be banned early next month.
In a statement issued Tuesday (Jan 22), Russia's state veterinary service Rosselkhoznadzor said it has not yet received the necessary guarantees that all the beef and pork it buys from North America is free of the feed additive, which promotes leanness in pigs and cattle.
