South Dakota's cattle on feed inventory unchanged from a year ago
The USDA says South Dakota feedlots with capacities of 1,000 or more head had 260,000 cattle on feed for the slaughter market which was unchanged from a year ago but down 5,000 from the previous month.
Placements in feedlots during December totalled 37,000 head, down 8,000 from the previous year.
Marketing of fed cattle during the month totalled 37,000, down 2,000 from December 2010.
