DSM Nutritional Products to establish feed premix plant in Tatarstan

Netherlands-based DSM Nutritional Products has signed a joint venture agreement with Tatenergo JSC for the construction of an animal nutrition and health premix plant in the Republic of Tatarstan.

Construction work is due to start immediately, with the opening of the plant scheduled for early 2011.

DSM Nutritional Products will contribute to the joint venture its know-how based on its wide network. Tatenergo JSC sees the joint venture as a stepping stone into a long-term cooperation with the objective of reaching self-sufficiency in animal feed production for Tatarstan as well as for Russia in general.

This partnership will introduce new state-of-the-art methods and standards into the agribusiness of Tatarstan, and will leverage the state's role as a supplier of feed and animal protein to Russia, said Ilshat Sh. Fardiev, CEO of Tatenergo.

Leendert Staal, CEO and President of DSM Nutritional Products, said the partnership is a key step in the company's global expansion of its premix facilities, fitting its growth objective of business development in Russia.

The Republic of Tatarstan is a federal subject of Russia.
