China's Henan's livestock product export hits US$400 million for 2006
Export of animal products from China's Henan province, a major livestock production region in China, reached US$400 million in 2006, growing 11.6 percent on-year.
The province produced RMB 135 billion (US$17.37 billion) worth of livestock for 2006, accounting for 41 percent of its agricultural production.
There were 46 livestock processing starting operations in Henan in 2006, enhancing the province's meat processing capabilities by 1 million tonnes and its milk processing capabilities by 212,000 tonnes. This meant Henan's meat processing and milk processing capabilities has been brought to 4.9 million tonnes and 1.8 million tonnes respectively.
