Cattle diseases under control in Thai southern provinces
Thai livestock officials have declared the recent outbreak of cattle diseases in Thailand's southern Krabi and Phang-nga provinces to be under control.
In Krabi, some 1,300 cattle have been infected with the foot-and-mouth disease. About 120 cattle in Phang-nga have died from swollen necks.
The officials said the movement of cattle caused the outbreak of the diseases. Cattle movements have been banned and all areas at risk have been disinfected.
They said the situation is now under control and the provinces should be free from the diseases within 1-3 weeks.
