Vietnam's Khan Hoa targets US$260-million seafood exports in 2008
Vietnam's central province of Khanh Hoa estimates its seafood exports this year to net US$260 million, accounting for 46 percent of the province's total export turnover.
Seafood processors and exporters in Khanh Hoa exported 52,000 tonnes of products last year, generating US$265 million, up 4 percent against 2006.
The traders continued to maintain their traditional export markets while expanding with new ones in Vietnam.
Over 40 seafood processors and exporters in the province invested in infrastructural facilities, production facilities, machinery to meet international food safety and hygiene standards.
Khanh Hoa's annual aquaculture output is around 90,000 tonnes. However, this is yet to meet the demand for materials from processing factories. Currently, businesses in the province have expanded their material markets to other cities and provinces in the country.
