Belarus ceases poultry imports from Germany and Mexico
 

 

Belarus has ceased poultry imports from Mexico and Germany, according to veterinary and food supervision department of the Agriculture and Food Ministry of Belarus.

 

The department reported that according to the Directorate General for Health and Consumers of the European Commission, cases of bird low-pathogenic influenza (H5N2, and H5N3) subject to mandatory declaration were detected on poultry farms in Germany (Schleswig-Holstein and Hesse).

 

The economic damage from bird flu is great due to the mass deaths of birds, the need for strict quarantine and veterinary and sanitary measures, including the destruction of diseased birds.
