China's Changchun sees poultry prices soar by 53 percent on-year

 

 

Changchun city in China's Jilin province reports that poultry and poultry products' prices increased by 8.5 percent month-on-month and 53 percent year-on-year.

 

The CPI rose by 5.4 percent year-on-year in December 2007, mainly driven by the food prices, according to the Changchun Municipal Investigation Team of the National Bureau of Statistics.

 

Out of 16 types of food products in the Changchun, prices for 9 of them escalated in the month.

 

Aside from poultry, prices for aquatic products also jumped by 4 percent on-month and 1.7 percent on-year.

 

Edible oil prices also surged by 4.2 percent over November and 31.6 percent over 2006. Liquid milk and dairy product prices increased by 4.2 percent month-on-month.
