China imports 230,000 tonnes of soy
Private exporters reported to the USDA export sales of 230,000 tonnes of soy for delivery to China.
Of the total, 175,000 tonnes is for delivery during the 2010/2011 marketing year and the reminding 55,000 tonnes is for the 2009/2010 marketing year, the USDA said on Thursday (Jan 21).
The marketing year for soy began from September 1. US exporters are required to report to the USDA for export sales activity of 100,000 tonnes or more of one commodity, made in one day or quantities of 200,000 tonnes or more in any reporting period, to one destination, by 3:00 p.m. EST (2000 GMT) the next business day, according to the USDA's Foreign Agriculture Service. Any export sales under these quantities must be reported on a weekly basis.
