China December soy imports 3.3 million tonnes, up 12.8 percent on-year
China's soy imports in December rose 12.8 percent on year to 3.297 million tonnes, the General Administration of Customs said Thursday (January 22).
The performance contrasts with the 1.1 percent fall in November as traders sought cheaper imports after the government's recent purchase of domestic soy propped up local prices.
For the year, soy imports rose 21.5 percent to 37.44 million tonnes.
China is the world's biggest importer of soy and gets most of its supplies from the US, Brazil and Argentina, the world's leading producers.
