Agromars Complex Ltd, selling poultry under the Havrylivski Kurchata brand, boosted poultry output by 2.4 percent in 2008.

Agromars director general, Oleksiy Marchenko said on Tuesday (Jan 20) said as planned last year, the company produced almost 130,000 tonnes of poultry, which was about 3,000 tonnes up on 2007.

Marchenko said the company had planned to considerably increase production 2009, but it will review its plans due to the difficult financial and economic situation in the country.

He said the financial crisis had caused Agromars to partly suspend the implementation of some investment projects on the expansion of production facilities. In particular, the company has frozen the construction of some facilities.

Speaking about the situation on the poultry market, he said that the crisis had not drastically affected it and process of sales proceeds as normal.

However, with due regard for a decline in consumer demand, Agromars cut prices for whole broiler chickens by 7 percent to 8 percent in January.

In 2007, the company produced almost 125,000 tonnes of poultry, which was about 13.6 percent up compared to 2006.

Agromars was established in 1998 as a closed joint-stock company, and in 2007 it was reorganised into a limited liability company. The company has more than 25 bird farms.
