China reports outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in Gansu
China has reported a new case of foot-and-mouth disease in north-western Gansu province.
Seven cattle were found sick in Pingchuan District last week and were confirmed to have the disease Wednesday, according to a statement published on the Ministry of Agriculture's website late Friday.
Eighty-two cattle, sheep and pigs were slaughtered as a result of the outbreak, and the situation is now under control, it said.
Foot-and-mouth disease broke out in Gansu three times last year, in February, June and August.
