US urges Taiwan to accept ractopamine in meat imports
The US is urging Taiwan to increase its acceptance for ractopamine in American beef and pork imports.
The US Congress said that the US should see how it can encourage Taiwan to import more of its beef and pork products now that the ractopamine issue has been resolved.
Taiwan previously banned the leanness-enhancing drug from any meat products, but has given in to Washington's pressure by partially lifting the ban on US beef products.
