Garelick's milk plant in Bangor to be up for sale

The Texas-based owner of Garelick Farms, Dean Foods, plans to put its soon-to-be-vacant milk processing plant in Bangor up for sale.

Jamaison Schuler, a spokesman for Dean Foods, told the Bangor Daily News on Friday (Jan 18) that the building would be put on the market in the near future. Friday was the last day of milk production at the Bangor facility.

According to Bangor's tax assessor's office, the building is worth US$3 million.

The dairy processing equipment, however, will not be part of the deal. Given Dean Foods' national operations (it owns roughly 80 dairy processing facilities across the country), "there's probably an opportunity to use that equipment," Schuler said.
