Russia July-December wheat exports down on-year

Russia exported 9.773 million tonnes of wheat in July-December 2009, the first six months of the current marketing year, compared with 10.7 million tonnes in the previous year.

The agriculture ministry reported that the total figure included 2.804 million tonnes exported to Egypt, 1.015 million tonnes of which was supplied under GASC tenders. In July-December 2008 wheat exports to Egypt totalled 2.756 million tonnes.

Wheat exports in December totalled 1.281 million tonnes, with the largest importers being Egypt with 400,858 tonnes, Turkey with 171,252 tonnes and the Philippines with 110,750 tonnes.
