EU invests US$25 million in dairy promotion
The European Commission has approved 13 programmes in 11 member states to promote dairy products in the EU, with the bloc contributing EUR17.9 million (US$25.2 million). out of EUR35.8 million (US$50.4 million).
The total budget of the programmes, running for the period of three years, is EUR35.8 million (US$50.4 million). The remaining budget unfinanced by the EU will be met by the professional or inter-branch organisations which proposed the measures and/or by the member states concerned.
This support was part of an effort to address the difficult market situation faced by milk producers.
