Atria to open US$101-million meat plant in Russia

 

 

Finland's Atria Group announced plans to open a EUR70-million (US$101) meat processing plant in the Leningrad Region in September 2008, the regional government's press service said Friday.

 

The plant, which has a total capacity of 180,000 tonnes per day, will be built in the region's Gorelovo industrial area.

 

Atria Group also owns the Pit-Product meat processing complex, located in the Leningrad Region's Kirovsky district. The capacity of the complex is 47,000 tonnes per day. Atria Group acquired Pit-Product around September-November 2005.

 

The group is the largest meat producer in Scandinavian countries and the Baltic Region. The group operates in Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Estonia, Lithuania and in Russia's St. Petersburg.
