Russia's grain export up 25% at 16.4 million tonnes
From the start of the agricultural year on July 1, 2013 to January 9, 2014, Russia exported 16.384 million tonnes of grain, a rise of 25.3% on-year, according to the country's agriculture ministry.
Russian farmers exported 12.559 million tonnes of wheat, 1.958 million tonnes of barley, 1.683 million tonnes of corn and 184,000 tonnes for other crops.
Exports amounted to 2.433 million tonnes in December, including 1.543 million tonnes of wheat, 137,000 tonnes of barley and 682,000 tonnes of corn. The average export price of wheat was US$270 per tonne.
