Sweden's Alpcot Agro harvests 64,200 tonnes of grains
 

 

From the farmlands leased in Ukraine, Alpcot Agro AB, a Swedish agricultural company with assets in Ukraine, reaped 64,200 tonnes of grains in 2011, reads a statement made by the company.

 

The harvested area was 13,700 hectares.

 

In particular, corn was harvested from 3,300 hectares, winter wheat from 5,500 hectares, soy from 2,500 hectares, winter rapeseeds from 900 hectares, and buckwheat from 1,500 hectares.

 

The company gathered 30,900 tonnes of corn (at the yield of 94 centners per hectare), 24,900 tonnes of winter wheat (the yield 45 centners per hectare), 4,200 tonnes of soy (the yield 17 centners per hectare), 2,400 tonnes of winter rapeseeds (the yield 27 centners per hectare), 1,800 tonnes of buckwheat (the yield 12 centners per hectare).

 

The average yield was 47 centners per hectare.

 

Alpcot Agro also announced results of the harvest in Russia.

 

Thus, they reaped 215,600 tonnes of crops from 77,700 hectares at average yield of 28 centners per hectare.

 

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Alpcot Agro stockholders on January 9, approved joining of the Ukrainian producer of oilseeds and grains Landkom International to it via the exchange with shares.

 

Incorporated in 2006, Alpcot Agro runs 204,600 hectares of lands in Russia and Ukraine, of them 188,700 hectares in Russia.

 

The company suffered losses of SEK254.9 million (US$37.7 million) in 2010, taking into account exchange rate differences, down 4.8% on 2009, while its gross return on sales made SEK231.637 million (US$34.3 million), 29% more than in 2009.

 

From November 2010 to April 2011 Landkom International earned a net profit of US$1.11 million.

 

Landkom International plc is registered on the Isle of Man, but it is a Ukrainian producer of agricultural products, including rapeseed, wheat, barley, corn, and soy, which it sells through grain traders on the markets for food and bio-fuels.
