Jordan to buy 100,000 tonnes wheat from US

A new tender to buy 100,000 tonnes of hard red winter wheat from the US or any origin has been issued by Jordan's ministry of industry and trade, the ministry said in an announcement Thursday (Jan 19).

The closing date for the wheat tender is 1400 local time (1200 GMT) February 1, the tender announcement said.

Last time Jordan purchased wheat was in December when it bought some 100,000 tonnes at prices ranging between US$280-281.50 a tonne for delivery in February and March.

Jordan consumes around 720,000 tonnes of wheat and almost the same amount of barley every year.
