Ukrainian animal products up 4.5% last year

 

 

Ukraine's 2010 animal products increased by 4.5% against 2009, including at agricultural enterprises - by 8.8%, at private economies - by 1.3%, the State Statistics Service reports.

 

At agrarian enterprises (except for small enterprises) total volume of cattle and poultry breeding exceeded the level of 2009 by 10% (by 150,000 tonnes), including pigs - by 19%, poultry - by 10.6%; cattle breeding reduced by 8.9%.

 

The average daily gain in breeding, feeding and fattening of cattle reduced by 1.9%, and pigs - increased by 1.3%. A ratio of total volume of slaughter cattle and poultry breeding against realisation of slaughter animals made up 108.2% (in 2009 - 107.8%).


As of the beginning of January 2011, the population kept 67.8% of total heads of cattle (as of January 1, 2010 - 66.3%), including cows - 78% (77.9%), pigs - 54.9% (56.3%), all types of poultry - 45.7% (47.6%).
