China's December soy imports reach 5.26 million tonnes
China's soy imports in December hit 5.26 million tonnes but are expected to fall to 4.55 million tonnes in January, according to the Ministry of Commerce (MoC) on Tuesday (Jan 18).
The report is based on import data from December 16 to 31. The ministry's import report is usually lower than that released by the General Administration of Customs as it counts the imports actually delivered at ports.
Customs statistics show that China imported 5.43 million tonnes of soy in December of last year.
MoC releases the report twice a month.
