Huvepharma goes beyond natural protein

Press Release

Huvepharma introduces Lianol, a fermented potato protein with pro-metabolic activity in pig production.

The intensive livestock production has drastically changed over the years. Farmers and integrators are searching for possibilities to improve health status and production levels through clever use of new management systems and feed supplements. However, only a limited selection can deliver and live up to these expectations despite screening a large number of natural complementary feeding products.

Lianol is a highly digestible fermented potato protein of which results in pro-metabolic peptides in food producing animals. This product was developed by Ardol BV, based in Netherlands.

The administration of Lianol helps increase the pig's performance by supporting the capacity of the liver to produce the necessary and needed physiological metabolic peptides. It results in a better natural immunity, enhanced natural heat, shorter weaning to insemination period and reduced number of empty days in sows.

Various forms of metabolic stress reduce the capacity of the liver cells to produce its normal endocrine metabolic peptides and related functions. Low levels hereof can cause impaired fertility, retarded growth, impaired feed conversion and reduced immunity.

The effect of Lianol has been evaluated on the piglets. Lianol-treated sows not only produced larger-sized litters, they also produced more weaned piglets and mortality levels were considerably lower than untreated sows.

Huvepharma will include Lianol in its broad worldwide available product range and is supporting research to develop use of Lianol for other species.

Huvepharma is a global pharmaceutical company with a focus on developing, manufacturing and marketing human and animal health products. The company also manufactures and markets enzymes for food, feed and industrial applications.
