Vietnam supplies 85.6 million doses of bird flu vaccine

In order to protect the local poultry flock, the Animal Health Department of Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development provided 85.6 million doses of bird flu vaccine to farmers nationwide, state media reported Wednesday (Jan 18).

Thank to the timing delivery, localities had sufficient vaccine for vaccination, successfully suppressing bird flu disease from developing into outbreaks, the newspaper said.

However, due to cold weather during winter, the disease may reoccur and break out in large scale.

The department will supply additionally foot-and-mouth vaccine for provinces and cities to protect their cattle and pig herds.
