Canada's 2012-13 grain and oilseed production increases
Canada's 2012-13 (Aug/Jul) major grain and oilseed production is anticipated to be higher than previous years, according to the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.
Production of eight major grains and oilseeds: canola, flaxseed, soy, wheat, oats, barley, corn and rye projected at 70 million tonnes for 2012-13, up from over 65 million tonnes in 2011-12 and 62 million in 2010-11.
Ending stocks of eight major grains and oilseeds in 2012-13 were pegged at 13 million tonnes. The projection was up from 2011-12 ending stocks forecast of 11 million tonnes and 2010-11 forecast of 13.041 million.
Total exports of eight major grains and oilseeds harvest in 2012-13 were projected at 33 million tonnes, an increase from 2011-12 estimation of 33 million tonnes and 2010-11 estimation of 32 million tonnes.
Total domestic usage of 2012-13 various grains and oilseeds harvest was estimated at 38 million tonnes, slightly higher than 2011-12 estimation of 37 million tonnes and 2010-11 estimation of 36 million.
