China's Xinjiang 2011 grain crop hits 14.77 million tonnes

 

 

In 2011, there were 32.492 million mu land for food crops in Xinjiang, China, with expected total output amounting to 14.77 million tonnes.

 

This would make a new high record in the history and realise output growth in 4 continuous years. Cotton output hit 2.992 million tonnes, the second high record year in the history.

 

Statistics shows that total incomes of rural economy in Xinjiang amounted to RMB155.04 billion (US$24.56) and that per capita net income of farmers was RMB5,432 (US$860.42), with on-year growth being RMB789 (US$124.98).

 

Xinjiang has become a key cotton base in China now. By December 20, 2011, Xinjiang held 66.6% temporary cotton storage of the nation, with cotton yield per unit being the top for 18 continuous years. Cotton land area may get slightly less due to the cotton price in 2011.

 

According to plans, food crop land will hit 32 million mu in 2012, with total output being 14 million tonnes. As for cotton, the land will be 23 million mu while the total output over 2.5 million tonnes.
