Chilean salmon industry on the road to recovery

Chile's salmon industry, stricken by the Infectious Salmon Anemia disease (ISA) is finally recovering.

There are already some investors getting closer to the Chilean salmon industry, Mario Montanari, chairman of the producer company Invertec, revealed. Capital will come back now, not in three years as some people say, he stated.

Montanari said that 2009 results were negative but consistent with their forecasts; 2010 results are going to be slightly better. The first important increase, estimated at 23%, is going to happen in 2011, he said.

In addition, he said that in 2014, the company is going to increase production to 22,000 tonnes.
