South-east Asian countries buy bird-flu drugs from China's Lanzhou

Lanzhou Livestock and Veterinary Medicine Research Centre, which claimed it created the world's first anti-bird flu Chinese medicine, Jinshi Taoshu, has recently made another shipment of the drug to Indonesia.

This would be the fourth shipment the company has made to the country. South-east Asian countries like Vietnam and Thailand are also knocking on the company's doors to buy the drug, according to the Agriculture Department's Veterinary Medicine Research head Dr Liang Jianping.

Liang said in January, bird flu has broken out in countries such as Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia and the list of human casualties of bird flu in these countries have lengthened. As the researchers have previously made trips to these countries to demonstrate the effectiveness of the drug, the countries are placing orders with the company now that bird flu has re-emerged, he said.
