EU grain crop rises 9 percent
The European Union's (EU) grain crop this year stands at 284.9 million tonnes, slightly up on its month ago forecast of 284.3 million and still up 9 percent on 2006.
The analysis by Strategie Grains says soft wheat output in the 27-member EU remains little changed from last month at 127.7 million tonnes and up 10 percent from last year.
Wheat crop was put at 119.1 million tonnes, up 10 percent on 108.3 million tonnes last year.
The outlook for the EU market in 2007-08 was neither particularly tight nor heavy but could change if yields moved up or down, said the analyst.
