15 percent growth in Russian pig- breeding industry expected this year
A 15-percent growth in Russian pig- breeding industry expected this year as Russian companies upped production, experts said.
Imported pork makes up less than a quarter of the Russian market.
In 2006, Russia imported 560,000 to 580,000 tonnes of pork from non-CIS countries. It also got half its poultry supplies abroad, although growth in that poultry increase increased little last year.
According to National Meat Association's estimates, Russia's poultry production increased 10 percent last year.
