UK's United Fish Industries to build new fishmeal plant
United Fish Industries has been granted permission to build a EUR 50 million fish meal and oil plant in Killibegs, in Ireland.
The company, which also owns the Shetland Fish Products plant in Bressay, said the manufacturing plant would support Killybegs vital role as Ireland's top fishing port.
The plant, with expected daily production output of 2,000 tonnes would be built at the new Killybegs Fishery Harbour Centre replacing the company's original plant built in 1957.
UFI managing director John Healy said the approval by Donegal County Council is most welcome and strenghtened UFI's commitment to the area.
