Ukraine's cattle down 0.5% on-year

 

 

The state statistics committee reported on Monday (Jan 16) that on January 1 the number of cattle in Ukraine totalled 4.471 million, 0.5% less than on the same date last year.

 

The number of cows on the date was 2.588 million, 1.6% less than a year ago.

 

The number of pigs fell by 6.1% on the year to 7.478 million, and the number of poultry fell by 2.1% to 199.5 million. The number of sheep and goats increased by 0.5% to 1.74 million.

 

In the course of 2010 cattle numbers in Ukraine fell by 1.8% to 4.74 million, with the number of cows falling by 2.2% to 2.68 million. The number of pigs in 2010 increased by 6.1% to eight million and the number of poultry increased by 5.6% to 202 million.
