South Korea to import fish heads from Chile

South Korean officials from the Ministry of Aquaculture are on a study tour in Chile last month to assess the possibility of importing fish heads from the South American nation.

The result of this tour could mean the opening of an important market for Chile.

The tour began with the delegates meeting with officials from the Chilean Ministry of Fisheries in Santiago. The tour then proceeded to the regions of Aysen and Magallanes to witness first-hand, the quality of the facilities.

Chilean officials hope that a positive evaluation by the delegates would see South Korea permitting the import of all species from Chile.

It is expected that a decision will be made in early 2012 for the approval of fish head exportations to South Korea.
