Ukraine to export two million tonnes grain a month

 

 

For the rest of the current marketing season, Ukraine will export about two million tonnes of grain a month, local traders' union UZA said on Monday (Jan 16).

 

"This means (exports of) 20-21 million tonnes for the whole season," UZA head Volodymyr Klymenko told a news conference.

 

The former Soviet republic exported 12.7 million tonnes of grain in 2010/11 season.

 

So far this season, Ukraine has exported 9.88 million tonnes of grain, up from 6.8 million tonnes on the same date in the previous season, UZA.

 

Exports so far this season, which runs from July to June, included 2.54 million tonnes of wheat, 5.31 million tonnes of corn and 1.92 million tonnes of barley, it said.
