Beijing to launch safety tracing system for meat products
Beijing announced the implementation of a meat safety tracing system by next month, according to the Municipal Food Office.
The system will ensure that all animal products such as pork, beef, mutton, chicken and duck will have files for better monitoring during production and sale.
Beijing marketed 1.1 million kilogramme of pork, 770,000 kg of beef and mutton, 2.5 million kg of eggs every day, 80 percent of which come from the surrounding provinces.
Once the system is fully implemented, there will be gradual phasing out of food not recorded in the system, authorities said.
