Merial to introduce PCV2 vaccine in Asia
After making its debut at a trade show in Europe last September, animal health company Merial is introducing Circovac, its PCV2 vaccine to Asia.
Circovac is the first PCV2 vaccine licensed by the European Medicinal Agency (EMEA) in Europe .
The vaccine is the result of 10 years of research into the virus.
Merial reported 1.5 million hogs vaccinated with Circovac since 2004 and solid field results achieved in Malaysia.
Merial, in its press release, said Circovac is proven to minimize litter exposure early in life, decrease respiratory, digestive and other disease incidences frequently associated with PCV2 and minimize frequency of anti-infective treatments.
Circovac is also proven to decrease crude and PCV2 disease-related mortalities as well as increase growth performance ratios.
MERIAL employs approximately 5000 people and operates in more than 150 countries. With 2006 sales of nearly US$2.2 billion. MERIAL Limited is a joint venture between Merck & Co. and sanofi-aventis.
