Argentina sees one of its best poultry export years in 2006

 

 

Argentina's poultry exports rose 5.0 percent on-year in 2006 to US$127 million, recording one of the best years in exports for the country, according to data from the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food.

 

More than 410 million chickens were processed in Argentina's slaughterhouses, up 16 percent.

 

Argentina became the world's fifth largest poultry exporter last year and the world's sixth largest poultry producer.

 

The country's poultry exports increased by 2.0 percent on-year during the first nine months of 2006 to US$86.6 million. During that period, the volume of poultry exports also grew by 2.0 percent on-year to 81,628 tonnes.
