During December 2013, Brazil's volume and value of pork exported were 11% lower than the same month of 2012.
Brazil exported 37,349 tonnes of pork in December, down 7.7% compared to 40,457 tonnes in December 2012, according to the latest figures from Brazilian Pork Industry and Exporter Association ABIPECS. The total volume of pork exported from January to December 2013 was 517,333 tonnes compared to 581,523 tonnes during the same period last year, indicating an 11% drop.
During December 2013, the value of pork exported was US$100.6 million, down by 3% compared to the same month in 2012, where the figure stood at US$103.65 million. The total value of pork exported during January to December 2013 was US$1.358 billion, compared to US$1.495 billion during the same period in 2012, down by 9.1%.
The average value of pork in December 2013 was US$2,694/tonne, up 5.1% compared to the same month the previous year, where the average value was US$2,562/tonne. Overall, the average value of pork during January to December 2013 was US$2,627/tonne, up 2.2% compared to the same period in 2012, where the figure stood at US$2,571/tonne.
