India's December soymeal exports down by 40,000 tonnes
In December 2013, Indian soymeal exports were 471,000 tonnes as compared to 511,000 tonnes in December 2012, a decline of 40,000 tonnes, the Soy Processors Association of India (SOPA) revealed.
SOPA Coordinator Rajesh Agrawal said that as farmers opted out of soy planting due to the high seed price, there were fewer arrivals at wholesale markets causing soymeal exports to drop.
On a financial year basis, exports from April-December 2013 rose 7.56% to 2,061,000 tonnes over the same period in 2012.
