Institut de Sélection Animale builds new hatchery in Netherlands
Institut de Sélection Animale (ISA), a layer breeding company under Hendrix Genetics, announced Thursday (Jan 12) the construction of a new parent stock hatchery in the Netherlands.
"The new hatchery will mark the success we have enjoyed in recent years, yet at the same time, fully supports the ambitions we have to expand our business in the face of a number of global welfare challenges", said Servé Hermans, ISA's Managing Director.
The 4.080 m2 hatchery, which is capable of producing about five million parent stocks per year, will be built in March this year. It will showcase a number of technologies to produce day-old chicks in a highly efficient, biosecure and environmental-friendly manner.
Equipped with the latest hatchery equipment of Pas Reform Hatchery Technologies BV and the latest electrical and ventilation systems of Hollander Techniek BV, the new production facility is set to become an energy-saving hatchery that complies with the most stringent biosecurity standards.
"The hatchery will be equipped with solar water heaters and water cooling systems with heat recovery to fresh incoming air and is designed to avoid cross-contamination at all costs", said Ron Jöerissen, ISA's Production Director.
