Big Dutchman's feeding valve snags three awards at Danish agri-show

Pig housing equipment company, Big Dutchman, snagged the development of a feed valve for pig feeding at the Agromek 2008 show in Herning Denmark, this week.

The valve, developed by the R&D-team of Big Dutchman Scandinavia, simplifies the search for leakages in liquid feeding systems.

The Big Dutchman innovation LeakSeek was awarded three stars, the highest possible award, in the category "feed preparation, feeding and watering for pig houses".

"LeakSeek is equipped with an automatic leakage sensor that registers leakages in the valves of liquid feeding systems, said Hugo Holm, General Manager of Big Dutchman Scandinavia.

The valve also detects abnormal air consumption and forwards this information to the feeding system control.

As all the valves in the liquid feeding system are numbered, a defective valve can easily be identified, thus saving time in the search for leakages.

Big Dutchman also snagged two other awards at the show - a new filter unit for hammer mills (DustBuster) and a control unit for dry feeding systems (TF-500), both developed from the Scandinavian Big Dutchman subsidiary.

Agromek is a livestock and agricultural machinery event held twice a year at Herning, Denmark. The current show runs from Jan 15-Jan 19 at Exhibition Centre Herning. The second instalment of this event will  be held from November 25-29 this year.
