Peruvian shrimp creates EU business opportunities

Peruvian shrimp was generating business opportunities in the European market, the Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL) said earlier this week.

Despite the impact of the global economic crisis, there were still clear signs of recovery and interest from new markets such as Europe, said the CCL.

According to the CCL, between January and November in 2009, the sale of frozen shrimp to the EU was US$7.84 billion, a fall of 18% compared with the same period in 2008.

Among the products offered are frozen shrimp and shrimp tails without shells, the CCL said.

Spain is the main market for Peruvian shrimp, which is also very popular in France.
