Kazakhstan grain reserves up 54.3%
As of January 1 this year, Kazakhstan's grain reserves totalled 16.45 million tonnes, up 54.3% year-on-year.
This includes 14.49 million tonnes of wheat, up 58.2%; 1.43 million tonnes of barley, up 7.4%; 164,600 tonnes of rice; 120,700 tonnes of oats; 94,400 tonnes of corn; and 41,000 tonnes of rye.
At the start of 2010, carryover stocks of oilseeds in Kazakhstan doubled to a total of 311,000 tonnes. This includes 211,000 tonnes of sunflower, 46,800 tonnes of canola and 9,300 tonnes of soy.
