Switzerland in lack of sausage casing
Switzerland do not have sufficient casing for its favourite large sausages that are made from cattle intestines.
Brazil has been the main supplier to Switzerland, followed by Paraguay and Argentina.
Switzerland consumes 160 million of the sausages - cervalet sausage - annually, but there are only enough casings for 70 percent of the market.
Switzerland has established a task force to source beef casings for the traditional food, which makes up 30 percent of the total sausages consumed in the country.
Argentina has a domestic market shortage of their own, as the casings are traditionally eaten untreated, similar to pork chittlings in the west of England.
