Ukraine gets protected from African swine fever
The State Veterinary Medicine Committee confirms the absence of any prerequisites for a possible penetration of an African swine fever pathogen in Ukraine.
The Ukrainian veterinary medicine service is maintaining contacts with its partners in the Russian Federation concerning the spread of the disease in south-western Russia's southern Stavropol and Krasnodar Territory, as well as concerning the measures taken to prevent further spread of the disease, and its final elimination.
The veterinary medicine committee reported that its experts had checked whether pig farms in the regions bordering on Russia observe closed work more and sanitary rules for specialised pig farms. No disease-producing factors have been uncovered.
The committee emphasised that daily monitoring of the physiological condition of pig population in industrial and private farms is being conducted.
In January, local veterinary laboratory confirmed the diagnosis of African swine fever following the loss of 64 pigs from a farm in Stavropol.
