Iran's Mazandaran 1st in farm fish production
Fish farming output in the province of Mazandaran in Iran is expected to reach 28,000 tonnes in the current Iranian year, which ends March 20, 2007, making the northern province first among Iranian provinces in terms of aquaculture production.
Mazandaran accounts for a quarter of the country's farm fish production
The volume is projected to hit 50,000 tonnes by the end of the Fourth Development Plan (2005-10). Iran has pledged 3,000 hectares of land in Behshahr to fisheries graduates who would use the land for further aquaculture production.
Mazandaran, near the Caspian Sea, is one of the main suppliers of seafood in the country.
