China's Food Production Up 20% in 2003
China's food production increased in 2003. Milk production has surged by 50 percent over 2002. Rice, wheat powder, cooking oil, meat products and aquatic products grew about 20 percent.
The total output of food industry in 2003 is estimated 1.24 trillion yuan (149.4 billion US dollars), up 20 percent year on year, according to figures from the National Statistics Bureau and China National Food Industry Association.
The profits of the food industry are estimated at 69.08 billion yuan, up 30 percent year on year, sources said.
