Taipei on alert for bird flu
Authorities are on alert for a possible outbreak of low pathogenic avian influenza (H5N2) in Taipei, Taiwan.
Clinical and epidemiological investigations are initiated after the cases are reported.
Samples, taken from the index layer farm for serological and virological analysis, are found contaminated with H5N2 antibody and antigen strains.
Movement restrictions, clinical health inspection and epidemiological investigation are conducted on the index farm to determine the health, mortality and egg production condition.
Clinical and epidemiological investigations for the surrounding poultry farms are implemented. Other laboratory tests continue.
